Our very own Spin Sisters PMBIA certified instructors will lead you through a 3-evening series (3 consecutive weeks) to give you an overview of the basic skills for mountain biking, to improve your confidence on your bike, and to have fun with your all your new Spin Sisters friends! This series is limited to 12 participants to ensure individualized coaching and feedback.
This 3 Week Beginner program is for women who are newer riders and have little or no experience on a mountain bike and would like to learn the fundamentals of riding in a fun, safe, professional, and supportive environment. You will learn and practice various riding techniques that are needed to ride on the mountain bike trails in the City of Calgary. It is also a great way to meet other Spin Sisters with similar riding abilities.
Each week will cover a different set of skills. The format will include 1.5 hours or so of skill development followed by an opportunity to practice during a trail ride with support from your coaches!
- July 30: Intro to MTB & Body position (shifting your weight forward, back and side-to-side to make your riding more comfortable, efficient and fun)
- August 8: Trail etiquette and Riding basics (mastering shifting and braking)
- August 13: Reading the trail and Cornering
- August 20: Backup / Rainout Day if necessary

Time: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Location: Bowmont Park, Calgary (Exact location will be provided to registered participants through email)
Note: Please arrive promptly and allow yourself 15 minutes to park, unload your bike, get your gear and bike to the meeting spot. You should bring water, repair kit, warm clothes, sunscreen etc. There are limited bathroom facilities at the park. This series will run rain, shine or snow so come prepared for all weather. If the trails are at risk of damage we may resort to using the rain-out day.
