In the 2012 24 Hours of Adrenalin race in Canmore last July, we had one 8-woman team in the 6-10-person corporate all-female category. We did quite well, showed our club colours and had way too much non-stop fun! Besides our official teams, a sprinkling of Spin Sisters were there racing with other teams.

2013 Spin Sisters Teams

This year we have reservations for two 5-person team entries again. We are currently recruiting more racers to take part in this fun, team event. With 5 people on a team, each racer would most likely get three laps, although year by year our timings vary so it might be 4 if you want an extra lap! The night laps are an amazing experience with the proper lighting equipment; many riders love it the best!

If you have raced previously, or have been a Spin Sister for at least one season, and ride at a strong Cruiser or Rocket pace you are ready for the 24 Hours team endurance race!

The theory is that we will have two teams:

Spin Sisters PDQ (pretty darn quick) for more performance-driven riders

Spin Sisters NTS (not that slow) for more laid-back mellow (but still focused!) riders

If you are interested, please email racing@spinsisters.ca and we will help determine which

team might be most appropriate for you to join. There will be a waiting list if we fill up the allotment of positions. In the past there has been some turnover close to the event date,

as people's plans change, injury or sickness prevents participation, or other circumstances occur. Being on the waiting list this year puts you in line for next year's team. You can be a volunteer at the event also, and contribute your much appreciated time and effort.

Volunteers

Each team must supply one (or more) volunteer(s) to help with race operation (checkpoint/water station, pedestrian traffic control, timing records) for one 4-hour shift, so if you just want to be part of the crazy circus without riding (this year) let us know!

Cost

Registration in the event, plus supplies and expenses, are approximately $200 per person, this is subsidized by the club and each participant should only have to pay about $120 - 140. We share responsibilities for food and race supplies, details to be worked out closer to the event.

If you are interested in joining one of our 24 Hours of Adrenalin teams, you can let us know when you register for the club and our Race Director will contact you.

Or email us at racing@spinsisters.ca.

You don't have to decide right away, but if the date is approaching and you find yourself interested in giving it a try, the 24 Hours event is possibly the most fun way to get involved in racing.

Participants for the open positions on the teams will be accepted in first come first serve order. It would be great to have a few backup riders lined up to fill in if one of our lead riders has to drop out in the weeks before the event (this has happened before). There is a lot of desperate scrambling for riders in the last few days among all the teams due to last-minute injuries or drop-outs, so if you want to race but don't mind which team, just check the website and you will likely be able to pick one up.
