Intro to Racing Outdoor Session - Mock Race COP

Location: Canada Olympic Park Eastlands - parking lot is located on Sarcee Trail, just south of 16th Ave. You can access this small, dirt parking lot by either traveling north or south on Sarcee.

Time: 6-9pm (arrive at 5:45pm to be ready to ride by 6pm)

What to Bring: You and your bike gear!

What to Expect: Another skills session and mock race! This course will be slightly more challenging. We will work on additional race skills, such as feed zone techniques, more passing practice, course memorization, etc.

THIS SESSION IS ONLY FOR THOSE REGISTERED IN THE INTRO TO RACING PROGRAM OR ADVANCED RACERS (i.e. SS club members participating in any XC mountain bike races)

Maintenance Clinic (27 May 2012)

Maintenance clinics are available for members free of charge. There will be a registration fee of $40 that is reimbursable upon attendance.

Registration is limited to 20 people.

At this clinic, you will learn how to:

clean, maintain and adjust your drive train
fix a flat
fix a broken chain

Cancellations are not accepted.

If you cannot attend, email clinics (at) spinsisters.ca and there may be a waiting list that we can fill your spot with.

Please come prepared to get at least your hands dirty. We suggest you bring:

your bike
a shop apron or work clothes
surgical or close fitting garden gloves
your tools
- chain breaker
- tire levers
- patch kit
- cleaning tools - sponge, nylon brush
- multi-tool with allen keys and star screw driver
- degreaser
- chain lube (dry lube is preferable)

Registration will close 3 days before the event.

Spin Sisters Trail Building Day/Welcome BBQ (02 Jun 2012)

Join us for the annual Spin Sisters Trail Building Day/Welcome BBQ! We'll meet at 9 am at the 2km parking lot up Moose Mountain Road (map coming). From there we'll join the CMBA and MMBTS crews to work on Pneuma. No trail building experience is necessary - we provide the tools and the training!

We'll pack up the tools and be back at the parking lot for 3 pm, just in time for some yummy burgers served up by our incredibly talented Spin Sister chefs. After our tummies are filled with food, we'll hop on our bikes to take a little spin on some of the trails in the area!

This is event to all Spin Sisters as well as friends and families, we just ask that you tell us how many are coming so we can plan enough food. If you can't make the full day, we still encourage you to come out, even if it's just for the BBQ and ride at the end. This is a great chance to give back to our trail systems and hang out with some cool people!

Intro to Racing Session #4 - Pre-ride Iron Maiden course (06 Jun 2012)

Intro to Racing Pre-ride Night!

Location: Canmore Nordic Centre (when you drive into the Nordic Centre, continue to the very west parking lot, closest to the biathlon range)

Time: 6-10pm (We need to be ready to ride by 7pm, so meet at 5:45pm in Calgary at the Stoney Trail Lot to carpool or arrange your own carpools). Arrive back in Calgary around 10pm.

What to Bring: You and your bike gear!

What to Expect: We will aim to do 2 laps of the Iron Maiden Course -- On Lap 1 we will stop often to look at technical sections, find safe places to pass, good spots to eat/drink, etc. Lap 2 will be continuous.

Volunteer for the Iron Maiden Race (09 Jun 2012)

Iron Maiden 2011 was a huge success and the Spin Sisters are doing it again in 2012! This is one of the most well attended mountain bike races in Alberta, and it's the most important race for the SS race team. Most of the women in our Learn To Race program will do this as their first ever race! Our club is starting to show up on the podium in many women's categories . Hosting this race allows Spin Sisters to give back to the mountain biking community, and is great promotion for our club. But we need lots of volunteers to make this event a success!

Please sign up for a job by registering for this event and choosing a role for yourself. This will greatly help me to know which roles have been filled and where we still have need.

Note you do not have to be a Spin Sister to volunteer, so bring out those friends and family members! You can sign them up as guests.

The website works pretty well but it's not perfect. If you have any issues, just sent me an e-mail to ironmaiden@spinsisters.ca and we`ll figure something out.

2012 Spin Sisters AGM

Location: HSCA 1320-5th Ave NW

Time: 6-9pm

Come out and participate in the 2012 Spin Sisters AGM. We will review the 2012 Season, and set the 2013 Executive. There will be BEvERages and snacks, and we'll be giving away some great prizes.

Remember, everytime you sign up for a Spin Sister event, your name will get entered into the draw for a prize at the AGM. But, you have to be present to win.
