The following clinics will be held in 2010

Basic Riding Skills - Saturday May 8th, 8:45 am to 5:00 pm, COP (Canada Olympic Park)

Fee: $33
Maximum participants: 75

This annual clinic is recommended for those members who are new to mountain biking or who would like to improve their skills.  

  • being prepared for spin sister rides
  • bike fit
  • appropriate body position and balance for different types of terrain
  • gearing
  • braking
  • ascending
  • descending
  • front-end lifts.  
The clinic is taught by certified instructors who are also club members. Participants are asked to come prepared for all weather. Light rain or snow will not deter the clinic. You must be a club member to participate in this clinic.

Basic Maintenance - There will be 3 basic bike maintenance clinics this year: 6:00-9:00 pm at Bow Cycle - Saturday, April 24th, Saturday, May 15th, and Sunday, June 27th

This clinic is recommended for all club members as each member is expected to possess basic repair skills.  Bike basics will be covered such as drive train maintenance and tuning (cleaning and lubrication) and common repairs (flat tire and broken chain).  Be prepared to get dirty (greasy) - wear work clothes (short-sleeves) and/or bring a heavy duty work apron.

Participants will be required to bring the following:
- your bike
- chain breaker
- tire levers
- tire patch kit (sticker or glue type)
- tire pump (portable for trail use)
- rags for cleaning hands and greasy chains
- chain cleaning tool (recommended if you use a wet lube)
- cleaning fluid (eco-friendly de-greaser)
- cleaning brush
- chain lube
- allen keys for v-brake bolts, seat bolts, disc brake pad bolts (if needed)

Please remember that Bow Cycle offers members a 20% discount on tools!!  We encourage members who need items for the course to arrive early and make their purchases in advance of the clinic.

Although the clinic is free, we will be taking a $20 deposit upon registration which will be refunded the night of the clinic. Please ensure that you show up for the clinic as they often fill up and a waiting list is established. If you have to cancel, please let us know and we can fill your spot.

Disc Brake Course - Bow Cycle, Thursday, May 13, 2010 with with Robin Livingstone 6:00 - 9:00pm (only 10 spaces available)
This course is being offered by Bow Cycle this year for Spin Sisters members free of charge.  Learn how various suspension systems and disc brakes work as well as how to maintain this equipment. Registration is required.  

Fork Overhaul and Set up Course - Bow Cycle, Thursday, June 17, 2010 with Marty Korba 6:00 - 9:00pm (only 10 spaces available)
This course is being offered by Bow Cycle this year for Spin Sisters members free of charge. Learn how various suspension systems and disc brakes work as well as how to maintain this equipment. Registration is required.
